7 Abilities Every MLM / Network Marketer Should Have
1)Coachability – You need to have an open mind in order to become coachable. After all, wouldn’t properly using the advice of a successful mentor help you make the money you desire, help you assist the people you want, enable you to live the life you desire? Now, your mentor could be your sponsor or someone else you respect. You may think that you are coachable, but are still not succeeding. Ask your coach: “I give you permission to be blunt with me. Am I coachable?” If they answer “Yes!” without hesitation, consider yourself coachable. If they hesitate, they may be trying not to hurt your feelings. Consider changing coaches. You need honesty, even if it hurts, if you want to succeed.
2)Dependability – In order to build trust, you must be dependable. You must do what you promise. You must deliver when you say that you will deliver. You must be at an appointment on time, every time. Once you have trust, your customers, your current partners and your prospects will be much more attracted to you and will also stay with you.
3)Availability – You must be available. Now, this doesn’t mean that you need to sit by the phone all day and night. But, your customers, your business partners and your prospects must be able to connect with you in a reasonable time frame. Have you ever attempted to get an answer for a question that was critical for you, and the business never returned your call? Don’t be like that business. Use all of the methods we have available to contact each other – the phone, e-mail, skype, facebook, myspace, etc. Be sure to respond in a reasonable time period.
4)Mobility – You must be willing to leave your computer and house. Training is a requirement for you to succeed. Some may be in your local city, but there are trainings in other cities or states. Yes, we can find incredible training through the internet. But – nothing will build belief in your company in the same way as a major event. And this belief will translate to more business. Also, you may grow to such an extent that you will need to travel to train others.
5)Credibility – This is above and beyond the belief that you build through dependability and being available. Your credibility is best if given by a third party or outside source. For example, if you are meeting a prospect, either in person or by telephone, and your mentor tells your prospect that they are lucky to have found such a great mentor as you, magic occurs. Credibility can also be gained by talking about your company and then having the same benefits be explained by a company website, CD or DVD. If you are having your prospect speak with your mentor, be sure to add credibility for your mentor before you introduce them. Let your prospect know how fortunate they are to speak with such a great leader. Building up your mentor will also help your credibility when your mentor speaks of you.
6)Flexibility – Nothing will go exactly as planned. Your prospect or customer will often not ask the question for which you have rehearsed the answer. Just be aware that they do not know the answer, they don’t know how your sponsor would have answered it. Flexibility will enable you to grow and eliminate fears.
7)Stickability (okay, I made up this word) – Don’t quit at the first sign of difficulty. I don’t know how many folks I’ve watched quit JUST before their success arrived. As Michael Jordan says: “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” Those that are successful fail much more than the ones who are not successful. All successful entrepreneurs felt that they should have quit. Because they didn’t, they became very successful.
